Bond Testing FAQs

How do I choose a hook for my application?

The diameter of the hook should be a minimum of 2 times greater than the diameter of the wire you are trying to test, but small enough to still fit under the wire. Extended length wire pull hooks are available for reaching into deep cavities. Standard hook sizes can be found in our online store: Click Here


How do I choose a shear tool?

In general the shear tool face should be wider then the device to be sheared while not wide enough to hit adjacent objects.

How do I obtain an RMA for returning a module for calibration?

What is the accuracy of my module?

580 Modules - 0.15% of full scale with the exception of the TMS-100k which is 0.1%
552 Modules vary by type:
RPTM 0.25% of full scale
ASTM 0.30% of full scale
STM 0.40% of full scale
TWTM 0.50% of full scale
Royce 620, 650 0.1% of full scale


What is the duration of a calibration? Can it be extended for a year?

The recommended interval of a calibration is 6 months.

Why do I need air supplied to my machine?

System 552 - Air is required for tweezer pull modules for tool clamping. Air is also needed to float manipulators.

System 580, 620,650 - Air is required for bond shear modules in order to actuate the clamping mechanism and is necessary for accurate tool lift. Air is also needed to float manipulators on 580 & 620.



Die Handling FAQs

Does AutoPlacer or DE35-ST use a contact sensor?

Your system uses a contact sensor during recipe setup only, during run the contact sensor is not used.


How do I choose a pickup tip size for my die?

In general the tip should closely match the size of your die. Please ensure that the pickup tip is at least half the size of the die to be picked.


How do I unlock the cross hair generator on my DE35 system?

For the JV Javelin series, the Master Password is: 641707


I have a new die size. Do I need a new eject head and pickup tip?

Eject heads and pickup tips are designed to pickup within a certain range. In general the eject heads and pickup tips are matched to your die.

This means it is likely that you will require a new eject head and pickup tip for your new die size, but feel free to contact a Sales Representative and see if your existing tooling will work.

I have a new waffle pack. How do I program the DE35 to place die into the pockets?

Detailed procedures can be found in the section titled "Calibrating the Waffle Packs" in the "Setup and Start-up" portion of your System Manual.

My die are not coming off the tape. What can I do?

Die may not release from the tape for several reasons:

a. Ensure there is proper external vacuum supplied to the system.
b. Ensure that the vacuum hose is connected to the eject head.
c. Ensure that the ejector is in contact with the tape during the pickup
d. Ensure that eject head needles are installed and functioning properly.
e. Ensure proper needle eject height has been programmed or adjusted
f. Ensure proper pick up tip is being used for the die being picked and that vacuum is present for the pickup tip during the pickup sequence.
g. If using UV tape, please ensure that the tape has been properly exposed according to process.


My die are not placing into the pockets correctly. What's wrong?

Please perform a tray calibration, you can find detailed procedures for how to do this on mainframes with a keypad by viewing our Waffle Pack Calibration PDF.  For mainframes without a keypad, please consult your User Guide.

Also, ensure that a long enough die puff has been programmed.


My eject needle is too sharp. Do you have blunter needles available?

Yes we have blunter needles, please contact your local Sales Representative for more information and a quotation.

My LCD is blank on my Pick and Place system. What's wrong?

Ensure that during the boot sequence power on that the z and x arm and output table home correctly. If homing sequence completes properly, then most likely the LCD or data cable will need replacing.
