1. How do I choose a pickup tip size for my die?

In general the tip should closely match the size of your die. Please ensure that the pickup tip is at least half the size of the die to be picked.

2. I have a new die size. Do I need a new eject head and pickup tip?

Eject heads and pickup tips are designed to pickup within a certain range. In general the eject heads and pickup tips are matched to your die.

This means it is likely that you will require a new eject head and pickup tip for your new die size, but feel free to contact a Sales Representative and see if your existing tooling will work.

4. Does AutoPlacer or DE35i use a contact sensor?

Your system uses a contact sensor during recipe setup only, during run the contact sensor is not used.

5. I have a new waffle pack. How do I program the DE35i to place die into the pockets?

Detailed procedures can be found in the section titled "Calibrating the Waffle Packs" in the "Setup and Start-up" portion of your System Manual.

6. My die are not coming off the tape. What can I do?

Die may not release from the tape for several reasons:
    a. Ensure there is proper external vacuum supplied to the system.
    b. Ensure that the vacuum hose is connected to the eject head.
    c. Ensure that the ejector is in contact with the tape during the pickup
    d. Ensure that eject head needles are installed and functioning properly.
    e. Ensure proper needle eject height has been programmed or adjusted
     f. Ensure proper pick up tip is being used for the die being picked and that
        vacuum is present for the pickup tip during the pickup sequence.
    g. If using UV tape, please ensure that the tape has been properly exposed
        according to process.

8. My die are not placing into the pockets correctly. What’s wrong?

Please perform a tray calibration, you can find detailed procedures to do this by viewing our Waffle Pack Calibration PDF.

Also, ensure that a long enough die puff has been programmed.

9. My LCD is blank on my Pick and Place system. What’s wrong?

Ensure that during the boot sequence power on that the z and x arm and output table home correctly. If homing sequence completes properly, then most likely the LCD or data cable will need replacing.

If this is not the case, then please contact your Local Service Representative.

10. Sometimes I hear a clicking sound on my machine. What’s wrong?

There is nothing wrong, the system is designed to purge the hoses periodically during periods of inactivity and this is what you are hearing.

11. My waffle pack program is scrambled. How do I reset the machine?

Power the system on while holding down the "8" key on your console.

NOTE: This will erase any custom patterns you have entered and system will reset to defaults. Recipe creation and setup of the system will be required.

12. What is motorized die eject and why would we need it?

Motorized Die eject is used for precise control of eject needle height and speed, often used for fragile die.

This item is optional on the System DE35i and standard on the AutoPlacer MP300.

13. My new pickup tip won’t fit into my machine. What’s wrong?

Over time the pick up tip adaptor hole may develop burrs and scratches which can prevent the pickup tip from being inserted. Remove any burs and try again.

14. My rubber pickup tips have a square hole but my pickup shank is round. What happened?

New pick up tips have square holes which are used with a pick up shank that has a square adaptor. You may have an obsolete shank which is round, please contact your local Sales Representative for a replacement.
